How did you convert the case to through bolts? I thought there was an oil galley in the way?

I drilled and tapped the cam gear then red locktighted an 8mm allen head bolt into it. The allen head is on the cam side of the gear and the threaded end is ground flush to give a better surface. IF memory serves me correctly, I think that I ground it until I had .050" air gap from the bolt to the sensor while all was setup in one case half.

Good catch! I used the wrong terminology! I should have said case studs! The six large studs that are there now are larger diameter and better material than stock. (And not cheap!)

Haven’t been on here for awhile, but this looks like a great combo congratulations!! If you dont mind me making a suggestion, I would really recommend you running a bigger turbo either a hx40 super or a hx52, you have way more motor potential than what your hx35/40 will ever put out. You will be over 850hp with the hx52 and deep 8s will be very achievable, congrats 👍🏼

Thank you!

I will keep that in mind once I make some more upgrades on the rest of the car itself and IF I decide to increase the power.

A, cool build.
B, what is the attraction to ford mains?
Yeah some may call it overkill, but you can't have too much overkill.

The size. 2.750" It's what most Pauter engines utilize. Creates more overlap between the center main and rod journals, so should make for a more rigid crankshaft.

So why not the BMW main (same effort on crank side, much less on case side)? I am assuming the Ford is an SAE sized and some availability, but are they really that much better or just in a near useful size?
