In was thinking i would just unbolt the body from the pan, weld a hinge to the front, and pin it in the rear. Then i can just tilt the body up like a backward funnycar!

Maybe just leave it assembled and drive it.

I’m joking, but seriously when is your war wagon back in the road?

I hope soon. I haven't been able to work on it as much as I'd hoped to. The bug jam show is this weekend so i might go to that, that's not going to help things! I'm guessing 2-3 more weeks.
Buuuut... It won't stay done long. I think that 1 3/8" header is going to have to go. Too small. And if i get/build a new header, it might be time for a big boy turbo.... Which means a whole redesign :)

I hate to tell you this but to make it a reverse funny car style you would need either to get some hydraulics or... a truss.

The idea is fun but you would have so much work to do to put strength back in the pan you'd be stuck like I am with my black buggy. 9 bolts per side, four in the rear and you'd have undo the double bolts on both sides of the Napoleon's hat then you'd probably put the pivot flange on the front beam (probably two of them).

Too bad the other pix didn't post.

Are you saying I'm not tough enough to. Lift it?!
I could whip up a quick roll cage no problem! That should stiffen it up good enough!

Then how would you get the rear firewall of the body to tip up over the roll cage (assuming it won't anyway)? That body is so heavy and awkward that a triple truss... one each for you hernias' with the third one for your torn back and butt muscles. Your surgeon would probably wear out an upholstery sewing machine just to do the repairs to you (you will want to get French seams for both looks and strength). 8)

It takes two of us just to lift the awkward glass body off the pan of my buggy.

No nothing exciting. Haven't had much time to work on it. The time i have had has been spent fixing some body issues and getting ready for a respray (same color).
I've been trying to hold off on my purchases. I still need axles and rear disk brakes. With black Friday deals just around the corner, i expect to have them ordered in the next week or two. Should have the car painted by the time they get here. Then it's just a quick reassembly.
Temperature has dropped to 75-80 degrees so it should be much nicer to drive once it's ready!

Don't forget, with the rear disc kit's you'll need the shorter hand brake cable kit too. There over priced as well.

Yeah i plan to get the kit with the new cables. My rear drums are in need of pretty much a full rebuild, so i figured there is no sense in that. May as well go to disk now. The wide 5 with a zero offset are the most expensive of the kits of course. Doesn't even make it go faster!

You can cut the handle end and use the buggy shortening ends. I've had them on my brake handle since I built the Buggy.

My cables worked exactly the same from the drums to the disc calipers. The only thing I had to do was grind a little more clearance on the caliper to get the C- clip on.
You might want to get the cast mounting brackets...they seem to be closer to the same thickness as the drum backing plate to save having to machine the bearing cap.

Thanks Art. I just last night was reading about how you had to machine your cap.

I didn't have to machine anything.......Kenric saved me and sent a machined set to me after reading about my issue......I probably still owe him for that.....
