I'm with you Lee. Got to have replacement air coming in for the same liquid out.

Question: Could "air tight" cause a vacuum problem when trying to pump out the liquid? Not sure on my part.

Air tight, meaning I plugged all the holes prior to installation and tested for air leaks. Installed in the car, has all the ventilation hoses required. Was not the cause of my problem... It was an internal leak, my design flaw. The new location removes that flaw, and is near the very bottom of the tank.

There needs to be a vent somewhere in the tank to avoid this.

The fault was my design. Because of the extreme offset, I attempted to relocate the pump within the tank, which caused a leak. Have since relocated the hole placing it directly above the lowest point in the tank. I've removed my faulty modification, and the pump is now plumed and mounted as it was designed to be. There should be no more leak problems... With a new tank... this one is garbage (minus the sending unit hole, can use this one as a spare).

Now that I have the placement set, and a new tank on order. I have talked to Mick from Joe blow Superchargers. He recommended I get a better fuel pump, I seem to have skimped. So, I ordered an Aeromotive 340 Stealth. Its rated at 90 gph/340 lph, which is probably overkill, but I'd rather have more pressure, than just enough to get by.

Question: I'm at 240ft from sea level... Do I need to hook up the vacuum line for boost referenced fuel pressure? I guess it gives an extra pound of pressure for every pound in boost pressure. I am probably only looking at maybe 6-8lbs of boost (for now ).

Boost reference is not a bad idea ever. More so if your planing to turbo with more boost.

Here is the final design. Aeromotive 340 Stealth, has Fuel Cell Foam, directly over the lowest point in the tank.

I would ditch the foam, no need for it, and it will break down and cause future problems. Looking Great!

I've read that generally, this fuel cell foam will last up to 5 years. It will then need to be replaced... Going to run the car with it for a while and see how it goes. It's fully accessable and easy to remove.

One thing you could also do since your cutting such a big hole, is weld in some baffles. I wanted to do that, but i cut such a small hole i wasn't able to. That would make the foam unnecessary.

Baffles should reduce some potential sloshing of the fuel around hence reduce potential foaming.

Since all your your tank walls are pretty close to being vertical (no less than 90° [measured from inside of the tub] after tolerance is applied. This allows the tub to be removed from the die.) allowing for tolerance they can cause this but, because some of the radiuses are large they might help reduce some of the splashing that can happen as the tank's fuel level goes down.

So, I stalled the pump. Got everything air tight again (to check for leaks, not installed yet). Putting the tank inside the front and guess what went flying into the fill hole as I was moving the external hoses?!? Yep, a hose clamp. Dink dink dink, all the way in there. HAHA!!

Here it is. Fully installed, not verified air tight, had to remove the sending unit to get the hose clamp out... It should be. Tested the pump... Man this thing is quiet. Ready for a pressure test...
