newbie with first turbo build carb choke question
First draw through turbo build for me. 2180 with Steve Tims stage 1+ heads. Engle 120 cam with 1.1:1 CB super stock rockers. H-beam rods. All forged internals. Total seal 2nd rings. CB black box with MSD pro billet knockoff dizzy and streetfire box. 7.8:1 comp. Holley 500 with Percy's adjust-a-jet and adjustable powervalve. T3/T4 with .63. Turbosmart wastegate with 7# spring eventually to 10psi. Getting ready to assemble the engine but my questions are these... will I need a boost referenced fuel pump and or regulator and do I need to remove or lock the choke. Street driven car only. Sorry for the dumb questions.

The only reason to boost ref the fuel pump if the float bowl is to small ,,u should be good just keep an eye on the wideband,
Yes remove choke you won't need it Cheers,Mike

Re: newbie with first turbo build carb choke question
Correct me if I’m wrong but I thought you only need a boost reference fuel setup in a blowthru turbo. In a blowthru the carb fuel bowl is pressurized during boost requiring a fuel pressure greater than boost by 3-5psi. A drawthru setup does see boost b4 the carb.

Is your Holley 500 a 2 or 4 barrel and did you purchase it prepped for turbo usage?

Re: newbie with first turbo build carb choke question
It's not an AJ kit. I bought the carb and searched for months to find the adjust-a-jet. It's a 2 barrel. I found an adjustable powervalve that I installed. It has larger holes in it and is adjusted by turning a screw. I'm trying to figure out fuel delivery now as my current setup is a Holley mighty mite. Thinking Holley red? End game will be 10psi boost but starting at 7 for now. Just ordered AEM wideband with LSU 4.9 sensor. This is a whole new world for this 60 year old. I'm wiring the CB black box after Christmas. Also got an intake air temp gauge too as Arizona isn't summer boost friendly. I need to figure out picture posting.

When the choke is taken out, what's the best way to block the shaft holes?

The header was locally sourced. Smaller tubing than I wanted (only 1.5") but it was cheap. This is the bad boy that I'll be converting to draw through.

I try feeding a 2276 with a 2 barrel ,but it was a sidedraft. it worked Ok , you may want to keep an eye out for a 680 Vacuum Secondary Quick fuel 4 barrel 1 1/2 header is all I running on my 2180 too

Re: newbie with first turbo build carb choke question
It would've been waaaaay easier getting a 4 barrel manifold, but I don't want all out power. I was happy Rodney Adams made this one for me.
