Old geezers!

Offroad VW based vehicles have problems/insights all their own. Not to mention the knowledge gained in VW durability.

My profile says I joined almost ten years ago. I'm not sure if that qualifies me as an old geezer. I have reached retirement age, so I do qualify that way.

Welcome to making it to retirement age. It's not always easy and a lot don't make it this far.

You might get more time now to do buggy work but there is also the traveling around and other things "the boss wants" you to do. Now, when you get to my age some of that ability goes away. Plan ahead then do what you are told to do!

Still drop in from time to time. More gray hair then when I joined here. Does that make me an old geezer? I remember when you did know how to post pics and you would post of that little kid of yours striking arcs under a helmet. And I feel fortunate to get to see pics (Elsewhere) of what he's doing these days. So fun to see them grow up. If that makes us old geezers too, I will take it! Look forward to more of that!

He still has a lot of sprinting to catch up on me age wise though.

Good to hear you are hard at it. I am getting a bit slow on things now days.

I turned 63 in January, we are planning to move closer to our kids this year. Our daughter had her first baby after 5 years of trying!

Your son is doing a great job on the F100 build!

Another old geezer checking in! Still in my 50's though, living the dream.
I accidentally Googled my Twitter. (And I liked it)

Yes? Oh, 60 this year.
I calculated that I should be able to comfortably retire by 2247.

I do at least have a shop now and am currently going through my new-to-me lift.
Its getting cleaned up and new cables, already has (new never seen oil) 3hp pump setup.
Got it all up/vertical etc and bolted down today.(self install/rebuild)

Working on the big door next. Have everything but the torsion tube, figured I could buy one locally.
Absolutely none of the local garage door places sell parts, even the ones that have "parts" in their name.
Worse than HVAC shops.
Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

Way to go guys (and girls). Old age isn't that bad normally, but it is a bit different also.

You still will have work to do, some of it fairly normal, some of it boring and then there is the panic part (hopefully none of us gets it).

you still can work on toys and enjoy them but things you did on weekends normally now have to be done during the week... and weekends:   .

Keep at it and keep a head of the really boring and tiresome things.

Right now, I am in long term battle with the squirrels and their greed over the contents in bird feeders.

I think I am close to winning (this round anyway) and I finally got to learn how and use my 110v spot welder that has sat unused for well over 20 years (buzz for a few seconds for each spot weld. Cutting up and using the scraps of flat stock that has laid around taking up space has cleaned up the garage somewhat.).

Remember, squirrels are very smart, and it has been interesting watching them try to and figuring out how to get up the bird feeder pole (a bent rod style) after I tried to stop them with my cheap designs. Stories of these confrontations I could tell as their personal attitudes during their figuring out things was amazing and entertaining to watch.

  Dirt piles are getting fuller and fuller (I was born across the street from a cemetery and watch it fill up very quickly), and "Bar-B-Quing" is getting more common. Marine disposal is also getting harder to do now days as the amount of disposal there is limited per drop (we just had 2 deaths in the family so had to get into this because of that).

Sorry about the gross-out. I am hoping to make 81 next month which also brings along a lot of thinking about losing the ability "to think" in the first place.

Work hard and enjoy the toys until it is time.

Down towards the bottom of the page shows what I am trying Kaffer bar wise. I'll still try to get a current pix of where I am on the build.

The fuel tank will be located above it which is also part of the configuration. It is sitting high due to where the access to it when the body is in place. Fit wise it looks to be OK but since this is a street body being redesigned to be an off-road (sand) toy one has a lot of other things to think about. Above the pictures I am talking about there is pix of my old "blue buggy" sitting on the sandy Pacific Ocean beach. Cruising and climbing dunes is so much fun but sitting in a tent on fold up chairs, with a small cooler for pop and reading a book while enjoying the site of the ocean and watching other sand riders go slowly or even fast go by.

One of the reasons for sitting near or in-between stumps for protection from those going too fast and sometimes losing control when hitting bumps and soft sinking areas on the beach. The county Sheriff also told me the same thing as he stopped cruising the beach to check things out.
