Thx! The wife still doesn't understand why I would tear my car down to do this when it was running perfectly (to her). I told her this car is a never ending project. I'll always be shooting for something new and shiny- haha.
Had a chance to go for a Cruze and a hard pull on the bug. I made a mistake in routing hoses to my waste gate that made for the most awesome drive home ever. Wish I could keep my boost level here all the time, but I do want parts to live on my daily. I’ll post the video of the boost gauge shortly.
Well after some fun and pushing the tuning edge I found that at 20degrees of timing and 22psi (or so) of boost 2 of my cylinders said buh by! Hahaha. I split cylinder 4 almost all the way down, put a small crack in the other side of that cylinder and a small crack on cylinder 2. Colapsed the #2 piston 2nd ring land. Everything else was good, so I had some spare cylinders and a piston, got her back together in a week and drover her out to the empi open house. It was parked with the LowBugget display and most of the day I was hanging out there. The drive out was good, 88deg's when we left Indio and mid 60's in Anaheim. But the drive home was brutal! Left down there close to 90 deg's and it was 109 in the desert. Engine did great and didn't see oil temps over 211 for that hot and uncomfortable drive home. Currently have boost set at 18psi and my fitech timing under boost settings go from 13deg@1500rpm, 15deg@3000rpm, & 18deg@6000rpm. All sounding good.
My IAT is in the throttle body so I can't say what it was inder the throttle body, but iat was showing about ambient temp. So far I have been very happy with the intercooler set up. I am also running a snow water/meth injection system so I'm doing everything I possibly can to keep temps down.
