Hi,
I previously asked a question on a 2270 build but was probably a bit too vague as I didn’t get many answers.
I’m building a type 4 2270 for my late campervan and am stuck on choosing a cam
Has anyone experience with one of these builds and which cam did you choose and are you pleased with it.
Thanks for any help

You need to give the engine spec and where you want the engine to be strong to advise what cam might suit your needs.
I have a Scat C25 in my 80x96, 2316cc with 1800 (41x34) heads and Weber 40 IDF carbs, 9:1 CR. It’s fine pushing a heavy Westy up mountains, however Scat quality is sketchy and if I were building the engine today, I’d us e a Web Cam, probably an 86 or 73/86.

What happened to the type 4 store 9590 cam that you said you had in the other thread? Incidentally, the Web 73/86 has similar specs.

I don’t know if the view counter is correct but it looks like there have been over 10,000 views but only one with an opinion for a cam suitable for a bus engine. I know that most Americans don’t like anything other than stock capacity, stock cam and very low compression but I also know that there are many others with larger capacity engines pushing a bus along. Anyone?

Re: 2270 bus cam
The motor in my Vanagon has 11:1 CR... but its also a 3.6L water cooled 6 cylinder with DOHC and 4 channels of VVT. That was my "fix".
Busses are hard on engines, especially Westys, and it's hard to keep a stock engine alive, much less a bored out stroker, so a mild cam, tight deck, with perhaps a little more compression is about as far as anyone is willing to venture.
Its not that no one cares, its just that few if anyone else went there and has an opinion or data to share.

Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.
