I now the riechert set up for type 4 engines.
But is someone making the 911 flat cooling via a horizontal axle via a poulie and v belt.
Like to know.

I built a Horizontal fan setup years ago but its Corvair based and does not need a $1000 worth of Porsche parts.
Have recently asked for help from someone who makes T1 fans... out of reinforced plastic, the Corvair folks could also use a more reasonably priced, better performing solution.
A slightly cut down Corvair magnesium fan will work on a T4 but its ~impossible to find one not cracked at the blade root on the outer 3rd of the fan. That has prevented me from further work so far.

zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.

I too would like to switch to a horizontal fan on the type 4 engine in my street Buggy. At present I am using the stock Bus cooling system and it is not ideal for this car in my view. Being low and facing the rear it brings in too much road dust and also some exhaust and spent cooling air. An upright conversion would be better but space above this engine with it's Weber carbs is already at a premium. Serviceability would suffer even more than it does now.
The Porsche fan is as others have said, priced out of reasonable reach. I also wonder if it is the right choice. The airflow off it will be going mostly down and would naturally favor the engine case and cylinders, the heads getting whatever is left over. Unless of course it is mounted fairly high up with long sloping sides to the shroud. The Corvair fan throws the air off horizontally and favors the heads. In the case of the type 4 engine this configuration would also favor the stock oil cooler location. To me those are the parts of the engine that have the highest cooling requirement. With that in mind would not the stock type 4 fan be better or is the diameter too large? How about the type 3 fan or even the type 1 fan?
With the air coming off the fan horizontally the fan could be mounted very close to the engine case making for a more compact design. In my car the alternator could stay where it is, the fan removed and relocated and a second pulley added to the crank to drive it. The majority of the cooling air would then be coming from over the transaxle and from the wheel wells instead of from behind the car.
Andrig's first version plastic type 1 fan interested me for this purpose because it's light weight would help immensely with the issue of keeping that long belt from coming off. However it seems the fan was prone to failure at the base. The second version was reinforced in that area but he has abandoned the design for a different one now.
I can't seem to get the idea out of my mind that his first version would have been a winner if he had shaped the blades more like the compressor wheel on a turbo. That would have put more meat into the lower 1/3 of the fins to strengthen the hub area and it also could have increased the aerodynamic efficiency I think.

A long v-belt and a couple extra pulleys on a bracket works well, the belt tossing issues on Corvairs was solved decades ago.
