Regarding the differences between the GD coded T4 and the GE coded T4.
1. Are the valve pushrods the same length?
2. GE coded has hydraulic lifters, does the GD coded T4 have hydraulic lifters?
3. Are engine parts interchangeable?
Reason I ask, I have both a GD and GE coded type 4 engine(s) in the garage and I'm working to get one running to get back in the 64 Bug. The GD coded motor swallowed a valve guide, so I need to swap out a piston. And the GE coded motor had a really sloppy crank and cam and needs to be rebuilt.
Thanks

Hydraulic pushrods are a different length & steel instead of aluminium

Re: Type 4 GD and GE coded engines
GD would have had solid lifters.
Engine parts are interchangeable, but you shouldn’t use solid lifters on a hydraulic cam or hydraulic lifters on a solid cam. Or solid rocker gear (with springs, not solid spacers) with a hydraulic cam.
