No oil pressure
I have a Cali conversion with the cooler in the dog house. I'm using the stock oil filter setup. My engine has sat un fired for about 5years. I drained the oil six months ago to remove the oil pump cover so I could sand it flat. I took the cooling shroud off and drained the cooler too. The oil only had about 1000 miles on it, so it was clean. I got everything back together and put new oil in it and prefilled the filter. The spark plugs are out and the gas pump is switched off. I have a vdo dual oil sender with the light switch and pressure gauge. I turned it over for about 20 or 30 seconds and got no pressure on the gauge. I unscrewed the sensor and it was dry on the bottom. How long does it take to get pressure up on a basically un primed engine? What should I look at/what could be my problem.

Unscrew the oil filter a little and crank it again. Until oil comes out between the filter and it's housing. Then tighten the filter up. Then crank it again till the oil light goes out. I had the same exact problem on a subaru engine I recently built.

i drained the oil filter and tried again, no pressure. How long does it take to see some pressure?

Haven't worked with T4s. On full-flowed T1s, I feed oil to the exit side of the pump and turn the engine over in reverse (by hand) to purge air from the oil pickup side.

Turn out the sensor, you than fill the pump from above.

I got the pressure up with some Vaseline. I got it started today and had 60 psi at idle. Now my question is about temperature. I let it idle about 3 or 4 minutes and did not see any rise on my temp guage. How long does it take to get the oil up to temperature at idle?
