Line bore measuring/Tollerances
Hello all, just tore apart an engine I had rebuilt, and had line bored by a reputable SoCal shop. Noticed some odd wear patterns/severity on the bearings considering the mileage. Im rebuilding the engine from stock to a bit wilder, and want to verify the quality of everything before I begin. The engine had likely less then 5k miles on it before I pulled it, so i really doubt it has pounded itself out of round. Im looking to just double check the linebore, both the actual ID measurements, but also the concentricity/alignment. Anyone have any clever methods to do this? The only thing I could think of was to bolt a piece of thick flatstock to every bearing half, and measure them down the line to see if they are correct. Theoretically if one measurement is larger or smaller, it illustrates that bore is offset one direction or the other. Thanks for any ideas!
