bus 4-spd conversion

My girl friend has a 78 Westfalia that she adores;however,its a dreaded,filthy automatic.I've stripped the clutch cable tube,shift rod hanger,shift rod,axles,shifter,clutch pedal assembly,and mounts from a similar 4-speed parts bus ,as well as had a 6-rib 091 tranny built.I'm an accomplished welder/fab/mechanic,but I was wondering if any one has done this conversion before,and if they'd have any helpful hints for me.Thanks!

i look in the library or archives at www.type2.com or post on the type2 list (available from the website). i'm sure somebody somewhere has done it before and prolly wrote an article all about it.
