No matter what the watercooled motor, they all have one thing in common. How to set up the cooling system?
On my SuperBeetle I used a radiator from a Diesel Rabbit and mounted it in the spare tire area. The radiator is actually mounted at about a 45 degree slant. I used flex pipes that electric companies use to put lines underground. If they can keep water out then they should keep the water in, was my thinking. These were recommended to me by KEP.
The main cooling set questions are:
Where to mount the radiator?
How to mount the radiator?
Front or rear mount?
What do use for cooling lines/pipes?
How to keep steam build up away?

Hi
On my super the radiator is mounted almost upright in the spare wheel well and the front apron has a grille in it. I used 1.5 inch stainless tubes that run down the chassis on each side to carry the coolant, they follow the bolts below the heater channel, then some stainless tubes to reach the motor and radiator, with some rubber joins to give the system some flex. If you can get your car towed to an exhaust shop with the motor and radiator installed and get them to custom bend the tubes it would be much neater. Flex hoses are not as good as straight hoses, they tend to crack on the flex. Make sure your radiator cap is at the highest point of the system, I can fill my motor at the bottle behind my back seat without getting any airlocks.

I got them at a local hardware store, like Ace or Home Depot. I paid around $75 for them back in 1991. I recommend what Steve said about the muffler shop pipes, that would be a neat and clean install.
