Well, it was gonna happen eventually. I've trashed my 1200 swing axle gearbox a few minutes ago so fitting a 915 has now become a priority! 3rd gear decided to give up.
Do I have to solid mount it if I don't weld extra lugs on the bellhousing? I haven't inspected one up close so any pointers anybody could give me would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry to hear about your gearbox Richard.
You have already worked out both methods... but there is one more you might look into.
If you were to use the original Subaru engine mounts with an extension of the gearbox forks or even down from a roll cage. Then you don't have to mount the back of the gearbox at all. Maybe a mounting down from a CSP trapeze.
