engine rebuild
hey fellas, I just rebuilt my engine (1776cc, dual carbs)all the way down and back up, some new parts and some reused. I just put it back in and tryed cranking her up. she sounds like she wants to go but just cant get going. could the timing be off enough to keep it from firing? what would be a good starting point for dist.?

For initial fire up, static time it to TDC then bump it up a few degrees advance. You can tweak it in when fine tuning. Good luck. Bob Ingman

yeah timing could be off, you could have installed the dizzy gear off, pull valve cover and watch number one intake valve go down and up that should be TDC at the start of compression stroke, check to see if rotor is pointing towards number one,
Check that you have your plug wires put on correctly first.
good luck
