Alternator Pulley Alignment
I am in the final stages of assembling a 1914 with dual webers. Installed a 36 hp fan shroud with an alternator conversion. Any ideas as to why the upper alternator pulley and the crank pulley are not aligned? The upper pulley is 3/8" farther form the case than the crank pulley.

Alternator Pulley Alignment
sounds to me like you've got the pulley on backwards. If it's on correctly it should line up, but if it's on backwards it will be farther away from the case than the crank pulley.
Should be that the back half of your alt. pulley is the half w/ the center piece, and the front half is the one which slides on over the center piece (alt shaft hole).
That's how mine is anyhow, hope this helps.
Also check your woodruf key and woodruf key slot to make sure all is lined up right. I went through a couple(brand new)pulleys that had miss-cut woodruff key slots before I found a good one that was correct.
