Well, it seems that theres a lot here about engines and stuff but what about the tranny?
I have that dad gum auto stick and I know for sure that its going to be a mother to rebuild, may have to get $mechanic$, but Im going to replace this for now with the manual tranny, as I have stated in earlier topics, (by the way thanks Marc for your help again), the question now is where to buy, and what to buy. Do I want to buy a rebuilt original, or do I want to buy a brand new one? Also, how much should I expect to pay, without a trade in?

John at aircooled has good prices for stock (rumor has it rebuilt by Rancho), $400. No core.
Direct from Rancho $350 + $95 core + $45 shipping (to GA).
If you want to try yourself Erco has the best prices on tranny parts it seems. $5.70 per synchro.

Comes with a warrantee and Rancho has a good name... I would suspect it is a high quality item, no personal experience.

Do they have a website?
Also, what does no core mean?

If you mean Rancho, no they don't have a website. I'm not sure they even have an 800 #. You can find there number in the back of any HotVW's, just look under the advertiser index for the exact page.
