Adjusting the idle through the carbs?

Post by 73Beetle4Me »

Hey guys.

Seems that my idle is a little low to keep the engine running. Need some clarification as to what I need to do to get this engine to stay idling. Any thoughts? I was thinking it has to be done at the carbs, but help my out. Thanks in advance.

If is on Kads, The idle screws are on the thottle arms. Turn them in the same amount on both carbs until the idle comes up.

Also a side note :

If you are going to adjust your idle on Kads as stated above make sure to disconnect one side of your throttle linkage before making your adjustments to the idle.
Do your adjustments with the engine fully warmed up.
After you have done the above reattach your linkage and make sure your idle does not change.
Some slight adjustments may be needed on the linkage (after the idle adjustment).
