Floorpan Jig

Post by glowing veggieburger »

Does anyone have any plans to make a floorpan jig? I could design one myself but I'd rather jst get the floors in than spend weeks arsing around with tape measures and angle iron!

Ummm, I'm not sure what you'd need one for, unless you're planning to build floorpans yourself. Am I missing something here?

Do you mean a rotissery, where you bolt the chassis down and can be spun around upsidedown?

Easy way around is to take 2 engine stands and bolt them through the bumpers. But also would be wise to somehow attach both engine stand together with a couple bars attached to each otehr.

Errr, rotieserie sounds cool - but a little OTT. I was going to make a jig for the 'pans so that they align perfectly with the frame head and torsion bars. I was going to use the bolt holes in the floorpan halves for aligning the outside edge.

I am considering TiG welding the seams on the floor for added rigidity.

There should be a lip around the edges of the tunnel/framehead/torsion bar. Just butt weld it flush to that and it should be even. The bottom of the floor pan should be even to the bottom of the chassis tunnel, no jigs necessary, unless I'm missing something :?:

On Ghia pans, for some reason, it usually takes a slight bit of massaging to get everything flush up, but no jig necessary. I usually take a jack stand and stick it under the unsupported corner of the pan just to keep things level.
