Hi -- Sorry it's taken so long to respond, been out of town, and out of touch.... The rear bumper brackets themselves aren't a big issue. The main issue is the front mounts and apron. The easy (and cheaper) way to do it is to get brackets from the real source that are made to use early bumpers on late cars (you still need to get rid of those nasty shock holes in the fenders). The way mine was done involves major modification of the apron and fabrication of bumper bracket mounts.dbgilbert wrote:scott, looks great! i was wondering if you had any dash shots. i plan on doing kinda what you did but i have a 75 standard. did you have any problems removing the bumper shocks and fitting older bumper brackets. one more question, just wondering about the hood is that a 70's or 67 down?
The hood on my car is still the later model but had the vent removed and has early trim and a wolfsburg crest. I have seen later cars with early hoods but that involves replacing the entire front clip, etc.
As far as the dash, I did not remove the dash pad, I kinda' like it, but I did install VDO gauges, and a grant wood wheel. I will put some interior shots on the fotki.com page this weekend.
Good luck with your project!
