2316 longevity
I gathered from the T4um thread on ceramic lifters that on a T4 the only thing that wears in the lower end is the cam and lifters, which can be remedied by the use of ceramic lifters. On the top end, any engine will need the heads freshened periodically, so what is it on the 2316 that makes it not a 100K engine? I can guess any engine with higher compression, or higher rpm may wear sooner, but I'd like to know what actually goes.
Thanks
Ron

I have never had one "wear out"....
The "Annihilator" engine has a long stroke, short rods and a cam that is very aggressive. The engine is made for hard driving, and made to rev. Thje least amount of CR I have ever used on one of these engines was 9.7:1...
It may very well last more than 30-50K, BUT I don't want someone to try and bust my balls because I false advertised the engine as lasting for 100K.......

I hear ya Jake. When someone opts for your 2316, they probably plan to USE it for what it was intended. It's not the recomended engine for that "grocery getter".
House of Ghia, Jake could tell you better than me but I think the difference between the 2270 and the 2316 wouldn't be realised unless you were on the track (unless you're some kind of wild man).

It would be great to have a really good description how these different versions compare in all aspects of driving. I'm sure you have a good reason for putting different combos together. Maybe a chart that would rate each one as to idle, round town user friendly, accelleration, economy, etc. Especially with the 2316 since it is sort of a specific engine to begin with....it replaces the 2270 D and I am guessing even with all 7 versions the intended use will be narrower than the 2270.MASSIVE TYPE IV wrote:I have 7 2316 combos...
