Sandblasting the frame
I want to clean up my pan before I weld in new floors and paint it. I may have to rent the blaster. What will I need in material and how long should I expect it to take? What kind of results will I see on a frame that is blasted? What NEEDS to be taped off or protected from the media?

I wire-brushed my entire Ghia chassis and pans, and did POR-15. Came out pretty damn good, if you ask me.
With a knotted rotary brush, a knotted cup brush, and a small detail wire brush in my die grinder, I managed to get all of the old paint off without a hitch, and without getting sand everywhere.
I wire brush all my parts, cuz I just hate cleaning up sand from a blaster. It takes a little longer, but with a variety of different types and sizes of brush, I have been able to get all the old paint and crap off of everything that I've cleaned up so far.
Oh, and you really do need a good clean surface to use POR, or it doesn't really stick.

How much POR?
How much did it take to do the whole pan? Anyone have pics of a pan that was wheeled and painted? They have a "frmae kit", one quart of paint and the cleaners... 45 bucks. Is this a good kit?

sand blasting frame
If you are going to have to rent the equipment you might be better off bringing it to someone. I did part of mine today, I have a small 40lb pressure blaster from harbor frieght but it really isn't adequete. I was doing the frame with the pans and the frame head removed and was using way too much material for the progress being made. I can get it done for about $ 40.00, I would have spent that much on blasting media. I used to sand blast houses about 25 years ago, and the right equipment makes a big difference.
