to many vws?

Post by THUMPER »

I own a foriegn auto repair shop in western NC and my question is, can you ever own to many vws. Personaly i dont think so.We currently have 35. The earlyist being a 57 ragtop, which was purchased at the 97 Gatlingburg show. It was a baja car that had been rolled. Currently it has been metal worked back to its former glory, with a few up grades. a super 1600 Porsche drivetrain also the brakes will be added when they are rebuilt. Then we go to the favorite, A67 1600n (notchback). Now a notch is very cool, but a "n" has no side trim, rubber floor mat, no clock, etc. but the best part is that it is right hand drive, how many of those bad boys are in the us of a. Of course theres Thumper and Sweet Pea. The prides of the collection.Thumper is a 72 squareback with a 2 liter type 4 engine that I built and installed about 5 years ago. About 7,000 miles and it will roast the tires with the best of them."see pictures of Sevierville show 6,500 for 45 seconds, smokin! check vwt in july "Sweet Pea" is a 63 type 1 that is mostly original, including engine & trans. even the tires are older than dirt. Maybe they will be next shows maypops for Thumper?
