Thermostat compatibility?? T.1/T.4

Hi, can I use a type 1 thermostat in a type 4 motor. I have a type 1 on the shelf, and the type 4 ones have gotten quite expensive.

Unscrew the tip of the thermostat, feed the cable through it, then screw it back on. It will work perfectly.

I just modified the new mexican style T1 thermostat to work on my T4. I'm toying with the idea of making a handful of brackets and modified new thermostats, but don't know if the demand is there.

They worked for me after I soldered a new cable onto the type 4 fitting.Beefed up on trhe cable while I was at it.Regards

well, jake sounds pretty sure that it dosnt work, and he builds them for a living. jake, how come they wont work?

Weve been doing them for over a decade, and Eric Allred has one ON HIS BUS RIGHT NOW (1979). We have a kit for $60 includes the bracket and thermostat if you want to see for yourself.
