In trying to break in my engine this weekend, I took it for a ride. I was going to try to run it hard but I all of a sudden my oil temp was going up and I got concerned so I let off. I was running about 260 degrees and I even got some oil that appears to have leaked out around the pulley area which puzzles me cause I have an oil seal and I just vented the front of my case. Maybe I need to remove that tight sponge in my air breather and replace it with a looser one. I do seem to have a lot of air routed from my 911 fan to that cooler enclosure I built, especially at the higher RPMs, so I do not think that is the problem.
Anyway, I am wondering what you think my timing should be at 3000 RPM. Also, I am using chromoly pushrods and currently have them at .001 for the intake and at .002 for the exhaust, do you think this okay?
I am worried about the oil temp and am trying to see what I can do to correct it. I will have to get a new timing gun since mine just went bad. PLEASE HELP, I'd like to be able to enjoy this long weekend.
