Just drove the car with the car set at 28degrees full advance. No change. What did notice was this.
When I am hard on the gas all the way up to any where from 3500 to 4000 rpm and hold at those rpms ( that is the usual point where it runs poor) for a second and then jump back on the gas it will contiue to climb through the rpm range until around 5500 where my shift point is set.

The change in sound reminds of a Honda v-tech motor. Very smooth at the start and then bam sounds the motor wants to blow. Only I have a noticable lack in power when this occurs to me.

I just my 140's back in, I have no 145's I am also going to put my 55idles back in because I cannot get the idle to stop spitting and sputtering.
I am really starting to to think it is startvation problem. Because I can do what I ever I want in 1st and 2nd gear but going into third is the issue. I am thinking that I am draining my resvors faster then I can fill them up. My float levels are already at 10 and 32 but I am wondering if I could set them up to give me more reserve level and start filling them sooner. Like 7 and 27. (Random numbers)

When I stay on the gas with the 140's in and just contiue to get on the gas I get jolts of power, a subtle herky jerk feeling every few seconds.

Make sure you have a good flow to your fuel pump and that it puts out 2-3 lbs. Pressure. Double check your fuel lines so that there are no kinks or twists. Big Dave had the same problem in his bus, his fuel line was twisted. Tim

 I have had a similar problem make sure the main fuel line is not restricted in the floor pan take both ends of the fuel line off and blow thru with comprssed air to make sure it is not blocked and or restricted also check the screen on the bottom of the fuel tank and have a look if a piece of foil off a gas additive bottle is not floating around inside the tank as well.

I found some improvement when I adjusted the float levels to allow the bowls to start filling up earlier.

Sparkmaster still got the Facet fuel pump? What to let me try it and see if it helps. If it does I give you $$$$.

Pump is long gone. Sounds like a restriction of some sort. Pull the fuel line off the tank in front and see how fast the fuel drains. Then blow through the line and make sure it is clear. Tim

This may be a dumb question but have you checked/replaced all of your fuel filters, including the screens within the carb?

are these carbs NEW or REBUILT?

i would consider soaking them in some carb soak..... if the fuel lines, tank, filter, etc does NOT clear up the issue....

These are used carbs, I am going to do a full fuel system check on sunday when I have the day off.

I have never heard of carb soak. Where can I get some?

Here is the update.
I checked all the breath lines on my gas tank one was blocked out out of the four. Checked the flow out the tank from the bottom, no issue there. Blew air trough the hard line got some gunk but nothing much, all clear now. The rest of lines in the engine compartment were check for kinks.

I put my 55idles back in because I could not get the idle to stop spitting and snaping. Now runs rich but will deal with that later.

THE NEW... I took the car and ran it with no real improvement. But what I did notice is when I hold throttle at, say 3800rpm and keep the rpms steady at that rpm the car will surge. Going from the powerless bad sound to the good sound with a burst of power. THis only last a second and then back to crap. If I hold the throttle for a long it never gets better but just continues to surge.

IDEAS?

go through and make sure all the "dumb" things are perfect like no intake leaks or linkage issues.
