Well, well, well
Jimmy B. I didn't think I'd find anyone in OKC on here, much less one who works with me. It's good to see your rat getting some ink. Just wanted to let you know that I'm going to take a look at your 76 at Sandstation. Thinking either I will buy it or my friend in the 6th. That probably won't be till next week. Also, got a guy who is looking for a 914 engine/transaxle if you know of any around. Well I guess I'll talk to you at work in a week or so.

I am just glad to have a VW mag to read, I subscribe to both, the Hot VW's has now become so boaring in My opinion. I like the articles by Mike Myers. and the tech section on fixing up the body work etc on the 71.
I'd like to see more tech artilces in HVW & VWtrends, and real world article about real people, driving and drag-racing
1776's,1835's, 1915's, and bigger
more article on Why everone is going to Turbo power.
more article on carb tuning 40's 44idf's and 48ida's
testing the clutches, and aftermarket torsion bars etc.
how they make them live
what they do at the track to prep
what they do to help each other out, etc
what these people do out side ov the Vw scene, other interests etc.
cam selection, how to not choose to big of a cam
what's best way to select rod and main journals (chevy, porshe, Vw)
what are the advantages of type 4 mains, etc
And What about the bad lifters and cams blanks?, the after market VW community needs help.
I get more out of Shoptalk than the Mags?
do stories about industy leaders
like the, Marty Stags, the Burn out king, Muffler Mike, Mark Herbert, AJ(low bugget), Locash racing, Massive type 4, local head porters, etc.
-to the editors, of VW trends and Hot VW's "please change a little and, "KEEP IT REAL!"

i agree, but the reason this is so, is beause the mags usually take pics of cars at shows and only travel to BIG shows UNLESS you want to pay there way to your show and back + hotel etc...Bklyn63 wrote:I just dont like the fact that every car featured is eithre from california or hawaii. Its retarded..

I think the magazine title gives the whole thing away.... VW "Trends". The trend now is the old unpolished, Rat Rod, etc etc. Like the picture of the Type Three, over the last year, the car was so overlooked, whereas the Ghia has been a mainstay in the magazines for years.
It's different and that's what sells stuff. So, in a few years, does this mean the TIV will be reborn ?? We saw a little of that last year with the TIV woody wagon ....
I think if the polished Ghia, although beautifule as hell as deserving of honourable mention it wouldn't have grabbed anyones attention as much as we see here in this post ( any publicity is good publicity right ? )
I stopped buying all the mags, only thumb through them now and if I find an interesting article ( which is harder and harder these days ), then I'll pick it up.
I tore all my articles from the 80's and 90's collection of about 100 mags, and sold the remaining mags sans articles at a yard sale for 5 bucks .... I now have a really good complete set of articles on pretty well anything.

Trends has had some pretty good articles featuring Germalookers lately. This month they had both a GL and a Cal-looker. Pretty cool. I also appreciated their latest articles about sound deadening and prepping a car for a monster turbo. Although, I wish it was an article(s) on how to prep a bug for a mild turbo. If you are gonna put a 2+ liter, 250+ hp engine in your bug involving heavy mods to the body, I don't think you are gonna even consider going to VWT's for a how to. Ya know? Its like preaching to the choir.
