What style of wheel is this?

You know, de-chromed, big Porsche rims, Brembos, etc.,... German Look rules!

What style of wheel is this?

Post by WD-40 »

Please forgive my ignorance in the Porsche world..

Does this wheel have a "style", or a name they are commonly called?

They're from an ebay auction, item # 7938459482. I'd bid on them, but I need a set with 4 good wheels, not 3 good and one tweaked.

Thanks

I saw those, but they're not quite it. Those wheels have a rounded "spoke", whereas the ones in the ebay auction have a lot more of an "edge" to them- especially where the spokes blend into the center section. The ones on the website also have more of a curve where the spoke meets the rim.

Are those supposed to be the same wheel, just a difference between manufacturers?

They look similar, but as you stated they have comparable differences. I believe the wheelenhancement rims are genuine but a variation of the style on ebay. If you can't place a rim....

Thanks again for the help, I do appreciate it!

I'm still on my hunt though. I found another website with a car with these rims.

Steve Carter has (or rather, had) them on his '72 1302 with the wasserboxer enginne.

(More photos are at Steve's website, http://www.clubvw.org.au/steve.htm.)

He mentions on the site that they're replicas from Japan. I sent him an email to see if he has any more information. Again, you can see that they're different than the ones on the wheelenhancement website.
