Progress on the Super Efficient engine!

Post by MASSIVE TYPE IV »

Beth and I worked on the car a bit this weekend and also started on the engine assembly. We got the dynamic assembly balanced, started cleaning the case and went shopping in the store for the rest of the parts to complete this project.

The car is scheduled for paint middle of June and the powertrain assembly will be installed shortly afterward. We have all the brake mods, Porsche wheels and suspension upgrades finished so the car is coming along really well.

HAM is working on the heads maybe he'll chime in on the progress of them here as well.

I received the complete EFI and direct ignition system last week also and I'm working on the shroud mods and the EFI plenum system as we speak. It is more involved than I thought it would be but it's coming along quite well.

Just thought I'd check in and let you guys know how its all going!

Is this going to be a single plenum EFI Jake? I would love to see what that looks like.

I am definitely interested. I have been dreaming up that setup, and if I want to go blow-through-turbo, it should a lot easier. Custome manifolds all the way I assume. Is this going to be a direct port injection system? or something like Holley has? Just curious.

It will be direct port bnased on my SDS electronics but all the rest will be RAT components.

Cool. That can only mean one thing, RAT will be offering a direct port injection system with single plenum and even a good filter system.

Next Spring? :D If not, at least we will know it could be done.

Thank you Jake!

The direct port injection is already available, actually its a standard on ALL my engines now.. The single T/B will take some more R&D for sure though to be incorporated on so many different engine combos and a lot of them will not work with it due to vacuum signature.

Some of the technojargon on the original thread and here are over my head, but I am really enjoying reading about it. Please keep the updates coming.

Dealing with Hooker (Holley) is a PITA. I never know until the parts arrive, and sometimes they don't completely fill an order. I have had them on order ofor quite a while now so I expect them soon. Fabricating the system will be a priority once I have the parts.

The heads are nearly done. The plugs have been relocated, the port work finished and the chambers reshaped. I have to prep some guides to accept stem seals. I'd say the heads are on the home stretch. I'd hoped to have flow #'s last week, but it just wasn't possible, and it's not looking good for this week either.

I'm REALLY looking forward to seeing how this project turns out. I think the results will be so positve that some of the more cynical critics of this development will never believe it.

BTW Chris thanks for the disc. I'm looking forward to sitting down and watching it. Your head repair went through smooth as glass. Should be back in business very soon.

You will see just how bad a race I had at RA (at least not as bad as the day before though). The Summit Point portion is very short as I had a camera battery going dead. NHIS was fun but the race got a little boring in the middle. There is some excitement near the end though - don't miss it.

I am very relieved to hear that. I really hope to have the engine in the car before my next race at my home track on June 11th.

Back on topic, unless you say otherwise the header will use my Stock stubbies (the heavy ones) and have 1 1/2" primaries.
Thanks Len!
