1776 turbo power?

Post by Miker76 »

I have been reading your posts and I can;t beleive I didn't find this Board sooner! I have just sold my 56 oval half finished project to a friend!!! It already has 17" Porsche wheels, disc brakes etc. I bought the engine last year, it is a 1776, with a turbo city Ray-jay turbo kit, with a webber side draft. I was wondering what power I should expect from this motor? It has been built from the ground up using parts from cb and other performance suppliers. I know that the heads are 44, which have been ported, it also has a turbo grind cam.
Thanks

1776 turbo power?

After much research I have found that it difficult to build a proper turbo motor with a decent cam,and heads and not make at least 180 200 hp .Yes the 1776 will do the job quite well but the heads cam and turbo all need to work in tandem a stock cam and mildly ported stock valves can be good for 130 or so horses on a 1600 figure the heads and cam along with displacemnt increase adds another 30-50 minimum..... What size turbon is it?

Thanks for the reply! I am not sure right now about the size of turbo, all I know is that it is a ray-jay. I will find out by tommorow and let you know.
Thanks again!
