i am thinking of building a stock (69 X 85.5) torubo motor with some mild mods to heads and cam and carb. i am wondering first off what else do i have to do to the motor to make it drivable. i drive it alomost every day, reliability is important (but i do have another car). the second question is that is there any other book that give the pro's and cons of a turbo. i am in need of some serious info before i drop the amount of money i have to. also what company sells the hid-away kit that fits under the deck lid? i want it to be stealth. thank you very much!! very cool forum!!

I would go with a bigger motor first. Unless you have alot of experience building vdubs already, and know a grip about turbos. 1600hun with alot of boost wont out perform a two liter. 2L has all the bottom end, and topend. If anything, I wouldnt turbo a motor unless it was a 1915 or better.

Hi
I have friend that turboed a 1600 superbeetle, it kicked but. Another friend did a 1776 and it would hold its own with a 2180. Some good reading http://www.clubvw.org.au/illawara.htm
