In Hot VW's a store sells:
garrett T02 $360
garrett T03 $230
T03-T4 hiflo$330
garrett T04 $430
mits. TE04H $250
Why is the T02 more than the T03 and the T03hiflo? What is a "hiflo"? Allso, what turbo would be good for a drag only, 2.1-2.2,
EFI, type 1 motor? I want to go in the 9's one day!!!!

to go 9s you need a TO4B, and that's $700.

How much HP is needed to hit 9s? What kind of boost and HP do TypeIs with T04Bs have?

Were you using racegas to run 25psi? Is your motor built up (you are using a Type I right?)?

I ran 8:1 and 8psi on super pump gas (92). Anymore and you need race gas.

OK, 9's may be just a dream, but I have seen light drag "pan cars" in the high 9's. With only a single side draft. Hairy rides to say the least, and not very good bracket cars. Still impresive and fun to watch.
Thanks for the replys, but what about my other question on how the turbos differ? I just thought a T02 would be less than a T03 and so on.

I'd love to help, but all my experience is with the TO4B. I used to use a Schweitzer, but the TO4B is a better unit (way more air).

Ok, I have a fiber glass drag buggy. Its run 11.40-11.50 @112 mph for three years. With a 2180, small "D" port heads, IDA's, spool, and close gears. Not a ton of HP. The chasis hooks and goes very straight.
Now lets just say, I rebuild the 2180 with a tubo in mind. Then build a SDS controlled single or dual TB injection and turbo system.
Anyone have any ideas on combinations. It seems that most turbo and efi combos are on the street, with only occasional drag use.
I haven't bought anything, yet. Just been collecting TB's and injectors off of anything and everything. http://hometown.aol.com/bug2180/myhomepage/profile.html
Heres a home page for my buggy. Hope it works.---Thanx every one--John

I have one customer that runs 120 in the 1/8th mile, and this is BEFORE he's put on our new FI system (Autronic). When he gets that puppy dialed in, he's going to yank the engine and trans and put it in a sedan (right now it's in a rail buggy), and the sedan is 200lbs lighter than the rail! LOOK OUT.
