T03/04 on a CBPerf hideaway headers

Post by Derrick from NC »

CB Perf. now makes their hideaway headers in the 1-5/8" size....however the only turbo that will fit behind the apron is a T03 or one of similar size.
Has anyone tried to fit a T03/04 to this header?
Will cutting out a section of the apron make it work or is the clearance problem with the oil pump, pulley, or headers themselves?

with my power pulley the housing is about 3" to the side of the pulley, the only two spots that would be of concern would be the intake pipe to housing and the fullflow return to the case on mine, but easily fixed. The intake pipe to housing has a 1/2" clearance,
that is with a 2 1/2" pipe and than a thick connector.
If you had to you could use a spacer on the turbo exhaust inlet side to give a little more room for the intake pipe. I do think you can do it.
I was thinking of doing it but my system is running great it makes 20psi by 3400 rpms and thats with a K-8 on a 108 lobe center can't wait to put a new cam in it to make it spool up faster

BAD62BUG,

What size is your engine and do you have the 1-5/8" or 1-1/2" hideaway headers?
I'm planning on using the 1-5/8" on a 2332cc injected motor and want a turbo larger than the T03.

2110cc 82x90.5 1 5/8? pipes no muffler mine dies at about 6000rpms yours with the CB T03 would pull to less rpm without reworking the exhaust housing and putting in a new exhaust wheel in it.

Hi fellas.

Just a little FYI

You can get the T3 compressor housing machined to accept the T4 compressor wheel. It is not as efficient as a true Hybrid, but it make a lot more power than a straight T3.

i have seen the use of a late model beetle rear apron (FI style with bubble) on a hideaway turbo setup, to fit larger turbo, may no work for early style bug but will if you have 68+. car ran low 11's
