Disc Brakes

Post by TimmyG »

Does anyone have a good resource for 914 discs that i could put onto my '65 bug. I am looking for a good salvage yard or any plcae at all i might be able to pick up a set of brakes. I would like all for but if not at least the fronts.

Pelican Parts carries new parts. New calipers are going to be $$$$, but you can get new rotors (probably a good idea anyway) and bearings (the front rotors are part of the front hub, so you need to replace the bearings when you replace the rotors) and rebuild kits for any used calipers you get. http://www.pelicanparts.com

Junk yards... High Performance House, http://www.highperformancehouse.com
EASY, http://www.easypor.com
PartsHeaven, http://www.partsheaven.com

Those are in my area, there are others elsewhere.

I don't think they fit at all! They sell those kits using Karmann Ghia stuff to adapt to a bug. I did this in 93 to a 69 bug I was rebuilding.

They Dont Fit?

I was under the impression that the 914 discs would just bolt right on. Maybe I am mistaken is there a similar brake that i might be confusing it for, which is a bolt on?
Bleyseng, where can i find that type of kit?

PS Thanks for the reccomendation on the junkyards Dave.
