Forged flywheel for T4......

Post by dstar »

MOST T4 FWs are cast, so does anone see any problems using
the FORGED wasserboxer flywheel on a type 4, as long as I'm
using the 6 rib bus tranny?

My plan is to put the FW on a diet and go drag racing!

I think it would make a LOT of difference, to drop 4-6 lbs in a 1800
lb car.....

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this!

weight

I guess the 4-6 lbs less static weight would help but, I figure that the less dynamic weight, is what would really help you out.

That...and a forged flywheel is less likely to frag than a cast flywheel. Plus Don is planning on a shot of NOS and is planning to drag-race...if he gets serious about it, a cast flywheel is a no-no, whether it comes up in tech inspections, or whether Don wants to replace a transmission and engine case later on.

NAH! I just LOVE throwing away $$$$ on busted parts!
BUWAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA!

FORGED=BETTER, and the BEST(that I can AFFORD!) is what I am after.
8)

I just got a wasser flywheel for $10 off of ESlay............

I'm looking to put up to a 100 shot of NOS to it, if I don't see the
numbers I want on the dyno.

hi don , i use a 215 wasser f/w in a 2.1 in my germanlook 03 it has a magnesium 915 gearbox , i broke all 5 stock bolts early this year, , did not damage the f/w at all . was well shocked to dicover no damage to f/w.

jake .......?????or any others out there i have 10 billet 200mm (en spec steel) flywheels waiting to be sold , but i cant locate any ring gears here in England, my last hope is the states to source some, other than that weve left enough material on there to have them cut (the teeth ) and then hardened , rather find some ring gears to shrink on though . anyone have any info .??????? all the best Lee L.A.Performance.

What mods are required to run the Waterboxer flywheel on a Type 4 ?
Are they all forged ?
Decent clutches available ?

Thanks.

They bolt right on.... The wasser has the same tail end on the crank as a TIV...

The only clutch/PP available is the 228 Bus unit. I have some of those souped up to hold my Powerstroke Bus engines- they don't slip...

Is there a way to tell by looking if a flywheel is a forged one or not?
How do you know that someone didn't just put a cast flywheel on their vanagon along the way?
