That’s right; we are in the middle of formatting a 16 page, full color catalog to showcase some of our most popular products. We are getting more and more people asking for catalogs and are branching out to sales other than specifically online through the Type 4 Store website. The catalog has become a necessity with the exposure we will be receiving from the Type 4 Build Up article in Hot Vws starting in May showcasing my 2270 engine, as many magazine readers don't hang out online.

The catalog is set to feature all the most popular DTM kits including the 914 DTM as well as cylinder heads, cranks, rods, cams and etc and will even have 11 complete "Catalog" engines that can be purchased through the engine division.

Inside the catalog will be a spreadsheet formatted price list of every component in the store(over 1100 items at current) as well as standard prices for the cataloged engines! We plan on cataloging engines from 2270, 2316, 2374, 2563 and 2615cc! We have removed the "Super Hero" status from the 2563 and 2615 series after a few years of development of these combos and the lower prices that the "New generation" heads will cost for the 2563 and 2615, this was never a possibility before! Each of the cataloged engines is available in a "Daily driver" (8.5-9:1) and "Performer" (9.5-10:1) state of tune (based primarily on the customer’s climate). Each combo will feature the design that we have found best for that engine.

Since we have so many various proven combos now (well over 150) I have selected some engines that are good for a wide variety of applications to catalog to take the "customization" away a bit to make things easier and faster with the new head program. From now on the only custom engines built will be Super Heroes starting at 2680cc! These engines will NOT BE KEPT ON A SHELF, IN STOCK! JUST BECAUSE WE CAN NOW CATALOG ENGINES DOES NOT IMPLY THAT WE ARE MASS PRODUCING THEM!!!! It simply means that we can cut down on admin time and organize things better for simpler communication with the customer and provide solid pricing for the first time ever. Customers that can’t get their “Fix” from the catalog engines and want something custom will be forced to step up to the only full custom line up we will have and that’s the “Super Hero”- There is no “in between”. All Super Heroes are created by me personally (with no assistance) with a 1 year turn around time and all make in excess of 220 HP.

So, the catalogs will be released shortly after the Hot VWs article comes out in May. We have added them to the Type 4 Store as an item to make gathering info as easy as possible. This also makes it easier when a customer does end up placing an order with us that hasn't before because that customer will already have all their info in our system!

About a month ago I sent an inquiry to your business inquiring pricing for several of your engines. I'm most interested in your re-vamped 2.8 motor. I haven't received a reply as of yet. Hence my delight in your catalog.

Now - To find another builder to build me a Manx.

The guys at East Coast Rover have bought 6 of my engines for Manx builds- they do a damn good job!

The largest engine in the catalog will be a 2,615cc, the 2.9 liter would still be considered a "Super Hero" thats 100% custom and not cataloged.

Where did you send your email? Did youcall?

I reply to every email thats routed through the appropriate channels of my engine shop, personally. Emails sometimes get sent to the parts store address and lost in the system.
