Really interesting subject! What about the Pennzoil GT performance 20W-50? I have used it for some years and so far no cam/lifter issues.
Hope that there is more to come in this thread :)

Muffler Mike wrote:FYI, i saw an add in the back of National Dragster that advertied some new brand of oil for racing that is located at the old Kendal plant, with the bla bla bla claim of using Pennsylvaina oil that kendal once used. Seems like they called it the Green brand oil.
If i can remember to look it up tonight, ill pass that name along.
maybe worth looking into.

edit. it might be called Penn Brand lubricants.
Yes, that is available here as well. Its called 'GT-1 Racing Green', they market it as a (drag)racers choise oil and is also available in 20W50 :)
Probably way more expensive, which would be a bit prohibitive for everyday use.
Would be interesting to know what Zn/P and Boron levels the 'Racing Green' would have?

From the dutch Kendall website (www.kendall.nl) :

• Kendall GT-1 High Performance
• Sae 10W/30,10W/40 en 20W/50

Kendall GT-1 Racing Green
• SAE 50, 70 Nitro en 20w/50

Unfortunaltely, not all the oils you guys test out there, are available over here... :(
And some are that are not available any more in Canada, so I read above

Would it be a possibility that the content of the same brand oil is different in the continental US as compared to Europe or other parts of the world?

Thanks Charles.

Walter

Muffler Mike is right about the old Kendall oil. The website is www.amref.com. The old stuff was great oil. I think the oil now comes
from the same tank, just different packaging and labels

Cool, I can keep recommending the Shell Rotella-T 5W-40 Syn with a clear concience.
Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

Only tests will tell... Doing oil samples before and after each oil is ran for 300 miles cross country will shed more light on the subject than anyone can imagine. Couple that data to the info received from the logger and we will have absolute findings that NO ONE else has to date.

I'm going to ship oil to strategic locations across the trip map and make changes in parking lots or wherever we need to!

I have been in touch with the American Refining Group and will be looking into their 20w50 multi-grade oils- thanks for sharing their information!

At the amref site there are some interesting hints at family products:
Kendax and Kensol do sound a lot like Kendall...

And at this site: http://www.bradpennracing.com/ it even states that amref bought the former Kendall refinery and renamed it to Penn-grade!!
So, their Bradpenn 'green racing oil' in 20W50 must be the same then as Kendall's GT-1 'green racing oil' sold over here 8)

So, Redbluebug was quite right with his assumption.
Thanks!

Still very interested what the zinc/boron content is of the 'racing green' that makes these supposedly so good for our aircooled cars. Charles?

Has anyone ever tried Elf oils?

I'm trying out Elf 5W45 millennium synthetic in my watercooleds right now. Suppose to have a 16000Km change interval. It is a VW505.01 spec oil.
