I have installed my 7424 heads and have noticed that there is a port on each head for a cht sensor. I have installed a sensor in both of them but will only have the #3 side one hooked to the guage the other is just a dummy plug. My question is what are the smaller holes on the other side of the manifold from the cht plug. They are about half the diameter but I am not sure what plugs into them. I am assuming I need to block them off. Thanks !

DO NOT HOOK THE CHT THERMOCOUPLE TO THE STOCK CHT LOCATION!!!!!

Thats the worst location tom measure running temperature! I have proven this many times in direct testing.

The CHT thermocouple is designed to go UNDER THE SPARKPLUG and unless you do this the reading you get may be up to 150 dgegrees incorrect!

Jake I explained incorrectly. The thermocoupler will go under the #3 spark plug as I have always run it. I meant the cht sensor will be hooked up to my wiring harness not the guage.

does it open into the valve cover area?

No it is on the oppposite side of where the cht sensor is just a smaller threaded hole. It is to the right of the intake manifold.

Casey I belive you are describing the opening that is machined by AMC for the smog injectors. Ofcourse they didn't machine the rest of the injector opening. Is it where a M6 sheet metal thread is normally machined?

Len I think it is where a smog injector was originally. I am not sure however if there use to be a sheet metal screw there.
