I have dropped my engine for a head repair and have contacted Len for the job. Also damaged was a piston, so I am thinking of replacing with 96mm pistons. This also seems like a good time to upgrade the awful stock cam. What is recommended for my setup? Do I need to replace my lifters also?
Thanks
Les

I was going to suggest a nice Megasquirt brain on the otherwise D-Jet hardware, but that's probably not what you had in mind...

Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

Dave, are you saying an O2 Sensor can be used with factory D-Jet?Dave_Darling wrote:Realize that you'll need to start tweaking the fuel injection. It it a fairly fussy process, especially once you start messing with the MPS (Manifold Pressure Sensor). I would strongly recommend you use a Wide-Band O2 meter to help tuning if you do replace the cam.

I'm not Dave, he has FAR more hair.
Indirectly.
One would need a WBO2+readout to "safely" tune the D-Jet.
Doing it otherwise could be a huge waste of time at best and you might as well tune via reading tea leaves.
D-Jet cannot directly use the WBO2, altho one could probably do something "interesting" electrically.
A MS+WBO2 setup on the D-jet hardware would be simpler and far more effective, and is a solved engineering problem. Good maps exist.

To tune Djet use either a LM1 w/a wideband O2 sensor or go to a dynohshop and have them do a series of runs. You adjust the MPS either way to get the AFR right by adjusting the inner and outer screw for idle and partload (13.7 to 1). The best part is adjusting the WOT stop for WOT by a series of WOT runs!
I have done it both ways so it depends on your pocket.
To adjust the MPS- using a heat gun cook the epoxy until it in black and cafefully remove all of it. Screw the WOT stop screw in until it stops, then remove more epoxy. Repeat until the screw comes out cleanly.
Now you can go adjust the inner and outer screws.
Install the WOT screw and the very end and adjust to set the WOT AFR-12.5 to 1
BTW- before attempting this everything should be set up spot on.
valves adjusted
timing checked and set
new plugs
electronic ignition
etc
or its a waste of time and money.
