Oil temp issue

Okay, well I'll go through the engine, timing, etc (I have the full adjustment kit for the Mallory, just haven't had a chance to your recommended specs), replace the adjusters, and give it a go again with 10w/30. If I am still having the same issue, I'll swap out for some 20W/50 and report back with the results.

udidwht, I am using a VDO temp gauge with a dipstick sender. I've checked the readings against boiling water, so it is fairly accurate.

Don't worry about redialing the entire dizzy... Just back the total timing down 2 degrees and run it for comparison, you'll always be above 3K RPM at cruise so it'll give you direct results with less work exerted..

The 86 is a cam that doesn't like timing very much.

The lazy valve timing of the lash could be giving you some of the issues, especially with the straight pattern cam..

I hope so. It was interesting looking at some of the adjusters that had been in the engine for the past 500 or so miles, I compared them to one out of a 1.7 that I am sure had many a mile on it. The wear on the contact area of each adjuster was similar. Defintely a believer in the 911 adjusters now for any cam over stock!

Plus new adjusters SUCK! The hardness is really crappy.
