Our most recent customer testimonial-

Post by MASSIVE TYPE IV »

Below is the most recent testimonial that I have received from one of my customers. The engine this customer is explaining originated from my older design of the 2316cc Annihilator (914 combo) but was equipped with the new tricks Len has created for our head program (these heads were predecessors of the LE head series).

The engine made 202 HP at only 6,000 RPM and made 183 lb/ft of torque at 4,000 RPM with only 9.5:1!!! This engine holds the dyno record for the most HP from a 2316 on pump gas!

Mike has done a whole lot of super work to his car. He has sent me some pics and I'll post them, as well as this testimonial on my site soon under the "Testimonials" pages...

"I am writing to let you know that you ROCK! The 2316 motor you made me is a rocket! It spins fast, pulls hard to the red line and idles smooth as silk. I want all of your prospective customers to know that if they want the best air cooled motor in the world built for their car, they can't go wrong with RAT. As they say, you get what you pay for, and this could not be more true when dealing with RAT. You have been great to work with, and it is refreshing to have the good old fashioned customer service that seems to have fallen by the wayside in todays' world. You have been honest, up front, and although my motor took a little longer than planned, you always let me know what was going on. When it came time to get the motor, I could not have been happier. I have about 1500 miles on it now, and it still amazes me every time I drive it. I took it to my first autocross, and it revs so fast, I had to shift into 3rd where all the other cars were using 2nd.
I really have to be gentle with the right foot since it has so much torque, I can easily roast the tires in a hard corner under load.

I have attached a picture of what happens if you use too much RAT power in the middle of the turn. Keep up the great work. I will refer anyone I know to you without hesitation. If they say it is too expensive, I will tell them they can't afford NOT to use RAT!

Thanks again!

P.S. I would love to be included on your testimonial page, and I want you to post my dyno run so all can see what MassIVe Power is all about. Had I not been there to see it, I would probably not believe it, but it is true!

Sincerely,
Michael Keats

1.43HP/C.I. on pump gas! Not to shabby! I remember that powerplant. Some neat tricks went into those heads. Glad the customer is happy. Ofcourse with a combo like that, how could he not be thrilled?!

Most incredibly these tricks stemmed from having to repair someone else's previous screw ups!

That was the last pair of "Rebuilt heads" that a RAT engine will ever see....

Len,
I worked on it Tuesday night for the first time since I decided to move. I hope to get back on a regular schedule now that I'm up and running in the new shop. At this stage I don't anticipate doing any races this season, but I should be 100% for next season (with 2 cars :) ).

Chris I'm glad to hear things are going well. Moving is a pain in the a$$. Just went through it myself and I love my new shop, but it took me 6 months to recover!
Hope you're happy with the new racer!

Hey Guys,

I want to post the picure that I sent Jake and a couple more, but I can't seem to figure out how to on this site. I am on a Mac, does that matter? When I hit IMG, I just get some text in the body and no options to pick the image. Let me know how and I will get a few up to see. Chris, the exhaust is a work of art! I had a friend come out to take the pictures, and he said when I pulled up to the line, he knew it was me just from the unique sound. It sounds great and looks great too. Thanks for making it happen fast, and good luck with the new race car!

Mike, Glad to see you here..
To post a pic it has to be uploaded to the net first... Our server is being updated and can't hold any more files until thats finished, thats why I haven't posted and linked the pics yet...

If you want to post it at thesamba, or photobucket you can grab the URL from it there and then post it the way you tried earlier..

Give it hell!

Jake,

I will see if I can get it done. I got a PM from a guy in Kennesaw that is thinking about a 2270 and Tangerine headers. He is going to come by and see mine. I will be sure to give him a ride, and I am sure you will be getting an order soon.

I watched the video of you and Bill. What a hoot! Sounds like it was quite an adventure. That motor sounded great, and I can't get enough of the data logging. That is so cool to see it all.

Did you get a ticket for tailgating that guy or did he let you go?

Take it easy.

No ticket.. :-) Get a copy of this months (september) Hot VWs magazine for the full story..

All it takes is a ride in the car to sell an engine, hell thats how I sold you the beast you have now!!! (and that was in a totally stock suspensioned and thrashed out 73/914)

Glad you are having fun.. How are the temps doing in this extreme heat?

Cool, good news. I need to pick up a copy.

Temps are good. I really can't even get the oil temps above 180 with the cooler and no thermostat. The CHT is great still, no problems. I will get it out to the autocross again this weekend (if it doesn't rain) and I will let you know how they are there.

Here are some pics, I hope.......

Later.

SWEET!!!!!!

What do the CHTs run??

That combo was developed to work well with the stock cooling system and it sounds like it certainly is for you!

does it feel faster than my car did when you went for a ride??? The combo is the same, just with the added head tricks that Len applied..

CHT

Post by Quik914 »

I only have the one cyl. monitored (#3) but I have not seen anything over 350 and usually about 300 when cruising. I did not have it working when I went autocrosssing (who knew black was pos. and red was neg on that gauge.....I guess reading the instructions can help sometimes..) I am interested to see where they run after a hard run on the autox or a few laps around Road A. I will keep you posted, but I think all is well right now. I was watching the CHT on the data logger for the 2270 and I am well below that at this time. I guess it could run a little leaner, but I really don't know without any AFR or EGT. Maybe I will add some gauges in the future.

It feels really good. It is hard to remember, it was a cold day when we went for a ride, and if I remember you really were not able to romp on it because we were waiting for some oil temp. I took my friend for a ride it and he said it felt very strong. I had some fun with a Lexus SC400 that seemed to have some extras, and we were a dead heat from about 70 to 115. It is really not a top end car, but it pulled hard to about 6200 in 4th before I shifted. If we went off the line, he would not have caught me for sure!!!

Later.
