Are there hidden spot welds somewhere? Much of mine is rusted to the point it's not connected to the wheelhouse anymore.

Kevin,

Believe it or not, I used a wood chisel to break the welds around the wheelhouse. The top , where it bends, has a bunch of spot welds that you can drill out from the engine compartment.

As for the front, where the tray meets the cross member, I used a spot weld cutter.

All in all, it's not that bad to remove, just take your time
You will need grind or cut some welds that the factory made in the upper and lower corners of the tray.

Take your time, you'll get it :D

Thanks. The crossmember weld aren't a problem: They're rusted away. I did the same thing, using a steel chisel to pop the wheelhouse spot welds going up the sides then used a hand grinder to get the two welds at the top left and right sides. I'll go looking for those spot welds tonight. I need the tray out so I can figure out how to put in new wheelhouses. Man, this **** is getting scary. :-)
