Alternate gauge mounting locations and mount methods

I want to mount two gauges behind the radio grill without cuts to the opening. I'm trying to think of a simple robust way to mount them. One idea was folding over a piece of flashing into a tube or teardrop and mounting the tail it to the body. I'd cut a hole through both walls of the tube and push a gauge through it. Only prob w/ it is that it'll wabble around. I figured an L-bracket with two tubes mounted big enough for the gauges got go through and clamp would be more rigid. I have a lot of gauges and few places to put them. One may go in the steering hub and another in the ashtray hole. I guess I could go conservative and put them in the glovebox but I like being different.

I assume you do know that you can purchase panels that replace the right and left side grill on each side of the steering wheel. They come with holes to hold gauges.......Not much room in a bue tho mount much of anything. All the one I have seen are chrome.

Yes, I'm aware of the panels. They look cool but you're going to cut the radio crossmember to get those gauges in. I don't want to cut. I just want to express myself and be a little different. Retain the stock appearance and still have gauges to protect my drivetrain investment.

Both are very clean installs. How did you mount the glovebox plate? I used two coil mounts (perfect fit for the gauges) and bolted one down without needing any additional mods to get a good fit. The other I bent the ears together to make it stand off of the trunk floor higher. I sandwiched an L-bracket in between the bent ears and bolted that down. I have oil temp at the top left and oil pressure at the bottom right side of the grill. Once I get the ears welded back on the grill and fire the camera up I take some pics. I did notice the taller bracket does vibrate so I'll have to dampen it somehow.

the bottom slides in between the little glove box "bracket" thingys and the top uses the stock screw and j-nut.
