Primer

Am having my 72 super repainted. Body has no rust....zero.......It was repainted long before I bought it 5 years ago. Am painting it with house of colors candy.......you apply a primer sealer then the color then the clear. There are some dents that will require a little filling and sanding. After that is done do I need to prime the entire car with normal primer then the sealer or just scuff it and put the sealer on then the paint and clear?

If the paint is in great condition then just prime where you need to.

With a candy topcoat, which by definition is somewhat translucent, I think you will need a completely consistent base to apply it to. Applied over paint here and primer there will result in a different look.

Ask at the HOK store.

As long as its feathered out right and a good coat of sealer is layed down before paint it should be fine.

Yup as 64bug said, seal it before your silver/gold whatever base and you'll be fine

i shoot hok all the time, heres a kewl trick u can do.. go with a 2k urethane primer , u can pick up a gal pretty cheap n it works with under hok sealers n paints. get u the silver hok sealer, use that for ur base under the candy . then clear.. so you'll have silver sealer/candy/clear
you will eliminate the extra step for say if you went with sealer/silver or gold base/candy/clear.
hok techs told me years ago, its a prefer method that you can do the silver sealer as your base under the candy. HOWEVER, the silver sealer or any base under the candy will have to be pretty well overlapped without any bloched areas or the candy will show up blotched. so lay it down the silver sealer real good and by then the candy shouldn't be a problem. 75% overlap on the candy 50 overlap on the sealer
