Wiring gauges

Post by 73Weezer »

I am wiring gauges and a radio in my 69 bug, and have a question
about using a common post for multiple switched power apps.

Can I make a harness with one end connecting to the fuse box and
the other having multiple tails for gauges and their lights ?

On the same thought, can I make a common ground harness for
these?

Thanks

Help ! Yes, I really am this ignorant of electronics, and don't want to
have to undo the dash later or worse yet buy new gauges.

Thanks

gauges need one cable for ground one cable from light switch for gauges lights one from fuse box to power them when you turn the key on in ignition switch and one cable from gauge sensor... or two (amper/volt gauge need two cables if i remember right )

for ground you can use one cable to conect all of them...

the same for power them.. i dont think you will have problem...

I think that this will work fine

Weezer, here is how I did my gauges and they seem to be functioning just fine. You can notice a "common" 12 Volt supply for the gauge, a "common" 12 Volt supply for the gauge lights, and a "common" ground between the gauges and guage lights. The only other wires are to their sending unit

common ground bus is the upgraded and preferred method.. low end guages almost prefer it.
