Using 1.9 pistons in a 2.1 engine?

Post by AMBROSIA »

What's required to fit a set of 1.9 pistons and liners to a 2.1 case?
I presume the deck height will be the main problem.
Is the wrist pin located differently on the 2.1?

Many thanks for your time.

hey. can't fit em in cus the lenght from wrist pin to top of piston is much longer on the 1.9 to make up for the lack of crank throw. you don't happen to have a set of low comp 2.1 pistons to swap do ya?

if you cut off 3.6mm off the top of the 1.9 pistons they will fit but you have to watch the valve to piston clearance(dependent on the cam and lift) the compresion will be 11,4-1 and the top ring gets quite close to the top.
good luck

i have a set of 2.1 dj pistons that are no good to me cus to high a compression ratio with the turbo. they are used thou. oh and i've stripped my engine down to give it a freshen up as the knock on start up was anoying the hell outa me. i'm gonna have to use a 1.9 crank thou with standard pistons as i haven't got any low comp 2.1's. so wish i could jus go ahead and throw marco my 2.1 and a load a dosh, but jus can't afford that right now.

11,4-1
That sounds high for a street runaround plus i'm using 1.25 rockers.
Seems a shame to cut these pistons also as they are brand new proper German ones.

How about a swop? I'll need to keep the liners and rings though.
