rev limit WBX crankshaft

Post by SiQDiZ »

a DJ 2.1 crankshaft; what is the max rpm for that crank. Is it higher than a bug crank? What rpm does it redline in a T3 bus?

I'm trying to find info on using a wasserboxer crank in either a type1 case or wasserboxer case, remaining stock stroke / bore, using lighter than stock rods and pistons for fairly low RPM driving ( sub 6000 rpm ). Is it advisable to have the crank counterweighted?

balance balance....

Do a good balance of all your rotating assy. and it will be fine for 7000rpm in the wassercase. for your goal of max 6000 it will work! no problem. dont think I would bother counterweighting these cranks for your application. Spend the money on good rods/rodbolts. These stock cranks have been reved to 7500+ with no signs of bearing failure... good oil pressure is important.

I agree, with that funny pooch in the forging it is much less likely to break. I am not completely sold on counter weighting that crank especially if you are not stroking at the same time.

My 2 cents, in a wasser case and not stroked, I would leave it alone.

Spend your money elsewhere.
Yeah some may call it overkill, but you can't have too much overkill.
