how many hp. before wedge made?..

Post by bang »

hey.
got a spare 86mm wbx crank and want to use it for an 2387 turbo oxy projekt. how many hp do you guys think it can handle with the org 5 boltholes and 5 pins before i have to wedge made it?

is there another flywheel setup there is better or? porsche use 6 bolts for flywheel and what do they do when they pull many horses out? .
the crank has been used in my 2779 drag engine but i lost the flywheel, so i got a new dpr crank with wedge made flywheel for that.

thanks

How do you just 'happen' to have a SPARE 86mm crank? What kind of trees do you have growing in your garden?

Just wedgemate it; don't screw around.

I would think any number of the Type 4 engine builders would be able to point you in the right direction.

I suggest flanged T1 crank with all T4 journals. I'm running wedgemated T1 crank in my oxy, but will change it to flange crank, it just feels much stronger.

The 5 BAS bolts with the larger toque setting can hold enormous power. Another 5 dowels added only reduce the plain of the crank that has to transmit the force. I decided not to go that route.
I had the BAS bolts already transmit 345 Nm with slicks and did quite a lot of runs with them in my 1000 kg bug (including me).
