Lol, sometimes my wife logs on for me and adds people in my friend requests. Maybe you are a suggestion. I'm friends with a few people on STF. You should add me, even though I only log in once every few weeks....miniman82 wrote:Hey Mario, not sure why but you popped up on my Facebook last night. Thought it might be a coincidence.

Did you figure out if you were having a boost problem, and if you were, what was the culpret, and what was the solution?
P.S. What part of SLC are you in? I went to school of architecture at the U, graduated in 2000 and used to have a house at 33rd south, 19th east.

I have run into another problem as of late. I can't seem to get any boost. So I'm trying to chase an intake leak right now, as the turbo spins just fine. I actually live in Provo right now, going to school and all. I eventually just set the computer to spark cut at about 12 psi. It hasn't been a huge problem so I haven't really chased it. I'm also dealing with crazy high intake temps right now too. I need to find a way to get cooler air into the engine compartment.

What is crazy high? At a cruise down the freeway i'm at 120 (about 50-60 above ambient) and under boost it will easily rise upto 160-200.

Finally got the boost issue figured out! I'd previously found a loose nut on the #2 intake nut, figuring that that was the cause of things I tightened it up but gained nothing. Then I noticed that my wastegate flange was a little leaky so I fixed that leak and still no improvement. Today I pulled the aircleaner assembly off to see if the darned turbo was even spinning and it was, so I was just a little lost at that point. Before I reinstalled the aircleaner though i happened to look at the 3/4 intake and found another problem. Both intake nuts were GONE! So I located some new ones, tightened it down reinstalled the aircleaner and went for a drive. HOLY COW! The needle on the speedo jumps to 50 in 2nd gear in one heck of a hurry now! To bad I could only do 2nd under boost on my little 35mph road before I had to get out of it. It is so nice to finally have this issue resolved as its been plaguing me since the 10th. The darn aircleaner assembly is located in just the right spot so that I can't even see or access those intake nuts. I never would have found the issue if I hadn't pulled off the tube.

Have you done any track time? On boost for a 1/4 mile raises my temps alot like 260. The alky injection brought that down but just want to know what yours hits on a long hard pull through the gears?miniman82 wrote:230*F under boost? I'd call that excessive. Sure you don't have a sensor mismatch, or a corrupted sensor table? Most I've ever seen was 180*F at 10 lbs, that was a hot 100*F+ day in the desert. Pretty much in line with what Mario stated.

No track time at this point, I drove it halfway there on July 10th, but called it quits cuz intakes were so high, and I couldn't make more that 2 psi. I have the same sensor that Mario has and am using the same numbers he uses to calibrate it. So it should be pretty close. I'm going to try the tennis ball stand off method and hopefully get things to drop a little bit. Now that she's boosting again, track time will be in the near future for sure!
