Injector Tester.

Post by Dale M. »

Any body build their own fuel injector test unit...... Seems it would be pretty simple....

Hot, humid air is less dense than cooler, drier air. This can allow a golf ball to fly through the air with greater ease, as there won't be as much resistance on the ball.

Yes, this function is "built-in" to the RedlineWeber family of EMS with data logging.

Will it work as a "bench test"?

By the way, how come you have time to be here when your site has so many image links that are broken........

YES.

The RedlineWeber site is NOT my site.

The site is owned by WorldPac, run, operated by WorldPac.

I do appreciate the "advise", they have been notified.

I think MS2 also has some sort of injector test mode.
Has anybody tried this?

DIYAutotune,Glens Garage etc flog a nice little kit for bench flow testing injectors...

http://www.glensgarage.com/catalog/ject ... p-109.html

They sell it preassembled as well.

Make sure your "bench" is OUTSIDE.

Wow, that pretty much what I had in mind (not quite so exotic though), now I don't have to design something and hurt my brain to figure it all out....

WARNING!!!

The above circuit should only be used on high impedance injectors, if you wire a peak-and-hold (low-resistance) injector that way you WILL burn it up. Even with high-z they might get a little warm in operation, so keep an eye on them. For low-z you need some form of current limiter, like an inline resistor. The Megamanual outlines which resistors to use, and where to get them. Reason being, P&H injectors open at full current then drop down to some percentage after only milisecond(s). I promise your fingers don't react that fast, so 'intermittently firing' them that way is asking for trouble.

:D   ....Funny you should mention that. I learned this the hard way a long time ago. Probably came close to lighting myself on fire. Also....the best cleaning can be accomplished by first wetting the inside of the injector with cleaner...then connecting the hose...clamp it tight...to the pintle end. Pressurize and reverse flush. The phrase 'burn it up' needs to be taken literally here, since pressurized flammable liquids will be involved. Would probably be a good idea to use a sealed switch in the design too, to eliminate stay sparks that might cause an ignition.

I would think a valve in the line as close to the injector as possible would also have better control (amount spilled) of "cleaner".....

Would also like to see these systems inside some sort of containment system (chamber)...
